  Customer Reviews

ARC Troopers are among the most elite clone troopers, utilising specialised equipment and intensive training to push their physical, tactical, and strategic skills to the limit. These troopers are capable of undertaking the most arduous missions, and the unshakable resolve has turned the tide of many vital battles in the Clone Wars.

All miniatures are supplied unpainted.

The Galactic Republic’s clone troopers are some of the finest soldiers in the galaxy, but only the best of the best can call themselves ARC Troopers. Constantly pushing their physical, tactical, and strategic skills to the limit, ARC troopers undertake the most arduous missions on behalf of the Republic.

This also means ARC troopers are among the most flexible warriors in the Grand Army of the Republic, able to fire with devastating accuracy even while on the move with their JT-12 Jetpacks . When deployed as a two-man fire team, they act as a scalpel, scouting ahead to snap off deadly long-range blaster shots. As they do, eight upgrade cards allow you to tailor your unit for the specific mission parameters with additional weapons, gear, personnel and more.  Two unit cards let you add them to your army as either a full unit or a two-man strike team.

No matter how you decide to use them in battle, you’ll find plenty of ways to customise your miniatures in the ARC Troopers Unit Expansion. In addition to multiple helmet options for every ARC Trooper, some troopers can be assembled wielding dual DC-17 hand blasters or with a powerful DC-15x sniper rifle. Finally, several troopers are highly posable as they blast into action with their jetpacks.

Dark Star perfect, kit not as perfect
09 September 2020  |

First, not reviewing FFG’s manufacturing, distribution, stock allocation or ridiculous lead times here. Not reviewing Dark Star themselves either (though they’re the polar opposite of FFG; completely painless, start to finish).

So 4 stars for the kit? Well, there are some minor gaps between parts that are sealed together, and some questionable placement for attachments to the sprues (right in the centre of the curved dome of the MK1 helmets? Really, FFG?). These are pretty minor and even an interesting excercise in filler placement so I guess that’s ok and probably not worth docking stars for.

No, the 4 stars really comes from the relative lack of customisation - you can swap out helmets and heads, and there are a few poses that allow for different weapon placement, but you’ll be hard pressed to make a pose or load out that’s significantly different than the image on the box unless you break out the saw and a tube of green stuff. Even so, these are beautiful casts, sharp, crisp, no sign of bubbles or faults, and pleasantly thin-yet-sturdy for hard plastic. If you’re not really into MiNe MuSt LoOk DiFfErEnT tO tHe BoX, I’d strongly recommend these guys. They’re a joy to paint, they’re very detailed and they’re all in separate arms, legs, heads and the torso is split so you can either paint super fine details on the sprue, or glue ‘em and coat ‘em.

Unfortunately in one of my boxes there was one missing component, which appears to be because of an extremely flimsy connection to the sprue (in the other, it was rattling around loose having fallen off). I can highly recommend Dark Star as a retailer because they have resolved this issue perfectly for me, even at this time of zero stock and even less being made. I can’t fault Dark Star for their initial price, preorder process, despatch and delivery or after sales care.
