The Galactic Civil War rages on. After the destruction of the Death Star, the Galactic Empire's power is threatened. Stormtrooper legions surge across the galaxy in an effort to reassert their dominance, while elite Rebel operatives battle them at every turn. Against impossible odds, they engage Imperial forces in the struggle for galactic freedom.

Imperial Assault is an epic adventure board game in the Star Wars universe for 2-5 players. The mighty Imperial army and a cadre of deadly bounty hunters face off against daring Rebel heroes in a series of tactical combat missions. Iconic characters like Darth Vader and Han Solo raise the stakes in the epic campaign. Each battle escalates towards a climactic final showdown between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance.

In addition, special head-to-head rules allow players to build armies and compete in standalone skirmish missions, recreating epic confrontations from the Star Wars saga or creating all-new battles!

Imperial Assault casts you and your friends into the climactic events following the Death Star’s destruction above Yavin 4, and offers two full game experiences within the Star Wars saga. In the campaign game, you and up to four other friends play a series of thrilling missions woven together in a narrative campaign, and in the skirmish game, you and your opponent muster your own strike teams and battle head-to-head over conflicting objectives. Whether you play as a hero of the Rebellion and fight alongside iconic characters like Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, or command the seemingly limitless armies of the Galactic Empire, you’ll enter the Star Wars universe in Imperial Assault.

As an added bonus, Imperial Assault includes the Darth Vader Villain Pack and the Luke Skywalker Ally Pack. These figure packs mark the first expansions for Imperial Assault, adding sculpted plastic figures with new campaign and skirmish missions.

Beautifully put together and manages to give you the feel of those Star Wars missions in the movies . Super with mates and rekindled my interest in painting miniatures

The AT-ST is difficult to assemble as the plastic is so hard it is awkward to fit the chin turret into its housing as the body is a single piece

Bought over half term to play with my 12-y-o daughter. We played co-op, using the app - absolutely brilliant add-on. Still had a few arguments about the interpretation of the rules, but that's all part of the fun, isn't it? Next job is to buy some paints and see if my hand is still as steady as it was when I spent my teenage years painting Warhammer figures.

Good co op fun

I picked this up after finding it can be played cooperatively through the Legends of the Alliance app. After a short tutorial we moved on to the first mission. The app manages the imperial units and gives a list of priority actions for each. This has allowed me to play through the story with my other half, rather than playing competitively. Highly recommend if you're looking for a co op star wars board game experience.

Great game

A good fun game. I'm not a big fan of board games but I do love Star Wars and used to play table top wargames. I've painted all the figues up and have been able to play three missions so far. With about 30 total campaign missions (including side missions) playable from the starter set, thats a lot of playtime you can get without expanding and offers a good level of variation. Rules are quite simple but the individual character and villian abilities add quite a layer of complexity. There is also an app available to take the role of the Empire, if you would rather play co-op.

Minus one star as there are quite a few required figures for the core campaign missions (rebel troppers, han solo, chewie, ig88 etc) that have been replaced with card tokens, which is a shame when all the rest are provided. But as I understand thats normal for Fantasy Flight games to get you to spend more.

We have just played the first mission but all of us had a great time, Though it was a little tricky to get setup and there were allot of rules to go through they were presented very well.

We are now staring on a campaign which is a great way of keeping things fresh and linked together, already talk has turned to which of the expansions to get next.
